Progect presentation

A centuries-old history behind us and a great commitment to innovation make up the DNA of Azienda Agricola Ricci Curbastro combined with great attention to the environment in which we were protagonists of numerous initiatives over the past thirty years.

The latest creation in order of time is a project that brings together this three major themes: culture and history, environment and innovation.

In 2012 we planted a vineyard on the outskirts of Capriolo made with varieties PIWI, an acronym for grape varieties created with intraspecific hybridization resistant to fungal diseases, in German Pilzwiderstandfähig or resistant to fungi.
These varieties were intended for technical experimentation at our cellar but the vineyard, absolutely free from chemical treatments, it was seen as an ideal "gym" to discover the vine and its fruit.

The vines were planted surrounded by hedges and trees typical of the forest formations of the Franciacorta hills, about twenty varieties of plants to be discovered by studying, leaves, flowers and fruits.
The vineyard, the hedges, the row of mulberry trees and wicker are a micro unit of a traditional landscape, that of Franciacorta, now largely disappeared because of agricultural mechanization, the disappearance of the cultivation of silk, urbanization and so on.
As a whole is a nature trail for educational purposes for schools, easily reachable on foot, and intended to historical research (silk and Capriolo’s textile industry, viticulture and oenology in Franciacorta), environmental (low agriculture environmental impact, looking for new varieties), naturalistic (nesting of insectivorous birds, the discovery of species of trees and shrubs and their properties).
“Scopri il vigneto” or “Discover the vineyard” will be an open-air laboratory for schools to discover while walking, a vineyard in all its expressions.
This part of the project related with CULTUR and HISTORY has its own website dedicated www.scopriilvigneto.it

In five years of life, the vineyard has never seen a chemical treatment and the grapes harvested in 2014 and 2015 were allocated to winemaking research for our company before arriving in 2016 to produce a new wine Sebino IGT White with Zero Treatments and Zero Residue on the grapes, the INNOVATION, and produced in a vineyard certified for the requirement "no phytosanitary treatment during cultivation and residues on grapes and wine produced no detectable analytically": the ENVIRONMENT.
The only allowed treatments are those required by law provided that the mandatory fight to Scaphoideus titanus, leafhopper vector of flavescence dorée, performed with Bacillus thuringiensis, bacterium natural antagonist of these insects.
Analytically undetectable means: 0.01 PPM and undetectable pesticide on the finished wine produced will still be guaranteed by the laboratory determination limit as a minimum consistent with the limit of detection defined by the relevant regulations (REG. UE 396/2005 and followings).

To arrive at this result was drafted a Technical Regulations for Voluntary Certification Zero Treatments Phytosanitary and Zero Residues (undetectable analytical), that as a result of analysis performed on the grapes from two different laboratories on over 200 active ingredients, has resulted from Certifications CSQA Srl the certificate of conformity.

Finally the label of the new wine with two hedgehogs (Erinaceus europaeus) taken back by the crest of the Ricci Curbastro but also a symbol of pristine environment, the hedgehog is in fact an omnivorous animal and its diet includes insects, snails, frogs and various vegetables. Loves fruits, worms and all the animals that inhabit the undergrowth, its progressive decrease is due not only to car accidents to a no longer pristine environment
